I never really knew this, but there are bad feelings out there regarding shorts. Since we were showing short films about fashion at the issue 5 release party, we decided to take advantage of the play on words and so became the Worn Shorts Party. When I told my friends they were expected to wear a pair to the party, I was met with an astounding collection of sour faces.

I don’t know if this is just because they have not cycled through the trend mill in a while (they are on the way though, if Anna Sui and Betsey Johnson have anything to say. Okay, and nearly every other designer for spring 2008, but I like Anna and Betsey best) but shorts were not the source of joy I was expecting.

In the end though, quite a few people pulled on their tights and came flashing their cutoffs and high-waisted short shorts. In some cases, the theme was chosen to be interpreted as just very short garments.
